ABGFC are dedicated to encouraging girls to have a go at football in a safe, fun and engaging environment
Our Little Lionesses Football sessions take place every Sunday morning at Aldershot Park from 10-11 am
ABGFC was founded in 1984 and was one of the first grassroots football club in the borough of Rushmoor, providing a safe fun environment for people to come and play football. We have always encouraged girls to play in mixed teams or all girl’s teams.
The FA promotes Girls to play football in girls only teams. With the aim of promoting girls only football the FA introduced the SSE Wildcats program. Aldershot B&G are proud to be members of this program since 2019.
In Little Lionesses we aim to use the imagination of the girls as an introduction into football. We tell stories, promote fun, making friends and playing football.
With no boys on hand to tell the girls how or what they should be doing (according to them) girls are given the opportunity to experiment and play in order to find their own way through trial and error and the guidance of our specially trained wildcats coaches. The girls come away from the sessions with big smiles on their faces.
When the girls are ready to take the step into playing for a team we have the opportunity for them to do so within the club. If all they want to do is play Little Lionesses then that’s also a great outcome.
This season our Little Lionesses sessions have lead to the creation of our U11 Girls and U13 Angels teams. With the addition of our ABGFC Ladies team we hope to create a pathway for Girls only football right the way through the club
